Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has reaffirmed his commitment to completing the construction of a state-of-the-art stadium in Yola by March 2025.

This announcement was made during a recent meeting at the Government House, where the governor hosted a delegation from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), led by its President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau.

Governor Fintiri emphasized the significance of the stadium project, describing it as a cornerstone of his administration’s broader efforts to combat poverty, address youth restiveness, and reduce juvenile delinquency in the state.

He highlighted that the initiative goes beyond mere infrastructure development, it is about creating meaningful opportunities and securing a brighter future for the youth of Adamawa.

In an effort to ensure the stadium meets international standards, Governor Fintiri invited the NFF delegation to visit the construction site and provide their expert advice.

This collaborative approach aims to ensure the facility not only serves the local community but also stands as a symbol of Adamawa’s growing sports culture.

Responding to the governor’s invitation, Alhaji Gusau praised Governor Fintiri’s dedication to the project and expressed optimism that the stadium would be completed on time.

He also suggested the idea of the governor sponsoring an Under-17 Football Championship, organized by the Adamawa State Football Association.

This championship would aim to discover and nurture young talent from the grassroots, providing them with a platform to excel and contribute to the state’s sports development.

As the March 2025 deadline approaches, the people of Adamawa State are eagerly anticipating the completion of what promises to be a transformative project.

The new stadium is expected to elevate local sports, foster community spirit, and create new opportunities for the youth, further positioning Adamawa as a hub of sporting excellence in Nigeria.
