AFCON 2025: Super Eagles’ last qualifying match scheduled for Nov 18

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has scheduled Nigeria’s final qualifying match for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) against Rwanda for November 18.

The match will take place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

Ademola Olajire, the Director of Communications at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), announced the details in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

He noted that this encounter will conclude the Group D qualification campaign for the 35th AFCON finals, set to be held in Morocco from December 2025 to January 2026.

Olajire also mentioned that Moroccan match officials have been appointed for the game, with Samir Guezzaz designated as the referee. The match is set to kick off at 5 p.m. Nigeria time.

“His compatriots Zakaria Brinsi, Abdessamad Abertoune, and Kech Chaf Mustapha will serve as assistant referee 1, assistant referee 2, and fourth official, respectively,” he said.

He said that Prosper Addo from Ghana would be the commissioner while Somalian Ali Ahmed would be in the role of referee assessor.

CAF has also appointed officials from Senegal, with Issa Sy to be referee in the Matchday 5 clash with Benin Republic at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny.

The match is scheduled for Nov. 14, 7 p.m. Ivorian time (8 p.m. Nigerian time))

His compatriots Djibril Camara, Nouha Bangoura, and El Hadji Amadou Sy will serve as assistant referee 1, assistant referee 2, and fourth official.

Ivorian René Sere will be commissioner, while Angolan Inacio Manuel Candido will be referee assessor. (NAN)
