Akwa Ibom Police nab six suspected drug kingpins, cultists in major raid
In a major victory against crime, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has successfully arrested six individuals suspected of being drug kingpins and cultists during a raid on a notorious hideout in the Afaha Offiong community, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.
The operation was conducted under the directive of the State Commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayilara, following credible intelligence reports regarding illegal activities in the area. Speaking at the Command’s headquarters in Ikot Akpanabia, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Timfon John, detailed the successful raid.
“Based on the intelligence at our disposal, we mobilized our operatives to the community. The swift action led to the arrest of six male suspects believed to be involved in cultism and drug trafficking,” ASP John stated.
The arrested suspects—Kufre Godwin Okon, Uko Monday Edet, Cyril Micheal, Gabriel Effiong, Joseph Effiong Okon, and Udofia Emmanuel Udofia—were found with two bags containing substances suspected to be Indian hemp, along with what is believed to be cocaine and various illicit concoctions.
ASP John assured the public that the investigation is ongoing, with efforts intensified to capture other members of the syndicate who remain at large. She also emphasized the Command’s unwavering commitment to purging Akwa Ibom State of criminal elements.
