Alleged Fraud: Court grants bail to ex-NHIS boss Prof. Usman Yusuf

A court has granted bail to Prof. Usman Yusuf, with the judge describing the conditions as “liberal enough to be perfected within one hour.”

The ruling, which comes as a relief to his supporters, was met with gratitude, as many expressed appreciation for the court’s decision.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned Usman Yusuf, who served as the former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), on a five-count amended charge bordering on fraud.

Yusuf appeared had before Justice Chinyere Nwecheonwu at the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Kuje, Abuja, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The former NHIS boss is accused of abusing his office between 2016 and 2017 by awarding contracts without due process and using his position to gain undue advantages.
