Chief Love Shimite, who served as the Special Adviser on Trade and Export to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has passed away.

She reportedly died in the early hours of Easter Monday after a brief illness, although the exact cause of her death remains unknown at the time of this report.

The Delta State Police Command confirmed her passing through its spokesperson, Mr. Bright Edafe, who stated that Shimite was pronounced dead at the hospital where she was taken.

Edafe also revealed that her husband has been taken into protective custody due to reported threats from members of the deceased’s family. He clarified that the man was not under arrest.

In his words: “He (the husband) was the one who called to report that his wife died early this morning and that he was receiving threats from her family, who feared he might be attacked. It was on this basis that we went to his house and brought him in for his own safety.”

However, Edafe added that the family of the late adviser later lodged a formal complaint, raising concerns that her husband might be connected to her death.

“We are currently investigating. In situations like this, only an autopsy can determine whether the death was natural or due to other causes,” he said.

The police have promised to provide more updates as the investigation continues.
