The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured a sweeping victory in the local council elections conducted on Saturday in Ebonyi State.

The Ebonyi Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC) confirmed on Sunday that APC emerged victorious in all 13 Chairmanship positions and secured 171 Ward Councillor seats across the state.

Jossey Eze, the Chairman of EBSIEC, made the announcement in Abakaliki. He revealed that the electoral contest included three political parties: APC, APGA, and LP.

Eze stated that the commission had validated and accepted the results for both the chairmanship and councillorship races, as reported by the Returning Officers at the various councils and wards.

Expressing satisfaction with the conduct of the elections, Eze praised the peaceful nature of the process and lauded the security agencies and stakeholders for their crucial support. He also extended his gratitude to all parties involved in organizing the elections for their encouragement and backing.

“I particularly thank the state government for refraining from interfering in the election process, which significantly contributed to its credibility, fairness, and transparency,” Eze said.

He emphasized that although the elections have concluded, the true victory belongs to all participants. He urged the winners to be inclusive and ensure that democratic benefits reach the grassroots levels.
