Born on July 19, 1959, Asue Ighodalo is a native of Okaigben, Ewohimi, Esan South East LG, Edo State, Nigeria.
After graduating from the esteemed King’s College in Lagos, he went on to earn an LL.B. from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1984, a B.L. from the Nigerian Law School in Lagos in 1985, and an Economics degree from the University of Ibadan in 1981.
Career
Asue Ighodalo started out in his professional life as an Associate at Chris Ogunbanjo & Co.
He was employed there from 1985 until 1991, when he and Femi Olubanwo founded Banwo & Ighodalo, which is currently regarded as one of Nigeria’s top legal practices for capital markets, securities, and mergers and acquisitions.
His areas of expertise include project finance, securitization, mergers, acquisitions, energy, natural resources, corporate finance, and capital markets.
Ighodalo has written numerous articles for prestigious legal publications over the years, as well as providing seminars on capital markets-related topics both inside and outside of Nigeria.
At the Institute of Directors, Lagos Business School, and FATE Foundation entrepreneurial training sessions, he also teaches corporate governance, directors’ roles and responsibilities, and entrepreneurship.
He held the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors at The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), Dangote Flour Mills Plc, and Sterling Bank Plc.
Together with these, he oversees a number of other public and private businesses, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and statutory bodies, such as the FATE Foundation (an NGO dedicated to the advancement of Nigerian entrepreneurs) and the Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA).
Furthermore, he previously served as the NBA’s Section on Business Law’s chairman (NBA SBL).
