Bala Mohammed-led PDP faction seeks court order to hold NEC meeting as crisis deepen

Amid the ongoing crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a faction led by Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has approached the court seeking an ex parte order to convene the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.

This development follows attempts by some PDP governors, led by Mohammed, to remove the party’s acting national chairman, Amb Umar Damagum, which has deepened the internal conflict. Notably, stakeholders loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, have opposed the move.

The Federal High Court in Abuja had earlier issued an order restraining the party from removing Damagum. In response, Mohammed’s faction filed their suit at the Federal High Court in Zamfara State, signaling a legal battle over control of the party’s leadership.

More to come.
