Bala Mohammed vs Wike: Group warns Dogara, Tuggar against betraying Northern interests
The Nigerian Democratic Front (NDF) has issued a strong warning to former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, cautioning them against actions that could undermine the political interests of Northern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The group alleged that Dogara and Tuggar’s recent criticisms of Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, were part of a calculated strategy to weaken the North’s political influence and block the emergence of a strong Northern presidential candidate.
In a statement signed by its National Spokesperson, Engr. Ikenna Ellis Ezenekwe, the NDF urged Northerners to ignore the actions of political mercenaries who, according to them, are working against the collective interest of the region.
The Forum stated, “These are not men fighting for justice or accountability. Governor Mohammed may not be perfect—no politician is—but he stands out as a courageous leader who has chosen to align himself with the people rather than with corrupt political elites.
“His opposition to governmental maladministration and his willingness to confront injustice have made him a target for political opportunists.
“Instead of joining forces with Governor Mohammed to advocate for the region’s interests, these two men have opted to align themselves with those who seek to marginalise the North.
“The era of political mercenaries masquerading as patriots must come to an end. The questionable tactics of Dogara and Tuggar must be denounced and disregarded for the greater good of the region.”
