Bandits abduct, kill APC chairman in Kebbi

Suspected bandits have abducted and killed Bako Bala, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

According to Zaidu Bala, the Special Adviser to the Kebbi State Governor on Television and Radio, the armed assailants attacked Bala in his hometown.

After abducting him, they shot him and left him critically wounded. He was later discovered lying in a pool of his own blood.

Bala was quickly transported to the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi, where medical staff worked to save his life. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday as a result of the gunshot wounds.

Kebbi State has been grappling with persistent insecurity, particularly banditry.

In a related development, bandits allegedly kidnapped another individual in Matseri village, located within the Bunza Local Government Area of the state. During the attack, a young man was also shot and is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi.

Attempts to reach Nafiu Abubakar, the spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, for comments on the incidents were not successful.
