Bandits set security agent ablaze, kidnap relatives in Katsina

A member of the Hunters Association of Nigeria (HAN), Aliyu Yahaya, was brutally murdered, his body and home set ablaze, and his family kidnapped, along with three neighbors, in Magamar-Jibia town, Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, when bandits stormed his residence.

The 31-year-old volunteer security agent was overpowered by the assailants, who then killed him and set his body on fire inside his room. In addition to the murder, the bandits abducted Aliyu’s wife, son, and three neighbors during the raid.

The Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway to apprehend the perpetrators and rescue the kidnapped victims.

The attack has sparked outrage among the residents, who are demanding urgent government action to address the escalating violence.

Community leader Alhaji Sani Salisu criticized the lack of security personnel in the area and called for an increased security presence to prevent such tragedies in the future.

The community is also pleading for the swift rescue of the kidnapped individuals to relieve the families’ distress.
