Mr. Bemgba Iortyom, the State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Mbagba Ward of Ushongo Local Government Area, Benue State, has been suspended.

Peter Asende, the Mbagba Ward Chairman of the PDP, was also suspended.

He was accused of collaborating with Iortyom to frustrate the development and maintenance of the party’s accomplishments in the ward.

Arising from an extra-ordinary executive meeting held at Atekombo, headquarters of Mbagba Council Ward, the ward leaders unanimously resolved that Iortyom should be suspended for causing embarrassment and great harm to the PDP in his numerous public outings, especially on TVC station.

The meeting regretted how Iortyom publicly boasted of how he frustrated the party in the 2023 general election by supporting the Labour Party presidential candidate.

Announcing the outcome of the meeting, the Ward Secretary, Emmanuel Akaanger, said, “Mr Iortyom was suspend for gross anti-party activities, insubordination, indiscipline and non-payment of party dues over a period of time.”

Meanwhile, following the development, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ushongo Local Government Area, Mr Terese Achir, has filed an application before a Makurdi High Court seeking an Order of Interim Injunction to effect Iortyom’s suspension.

In the suit marked N0. MHC/246/246 with Motion N0. MHC/1092/24, Achir is seeking an Order of Interim Injunction restraining Iortyom from acting, parading or holding himself as the Publicity Secretary of the party in Benue State pending the hearing of the Motion on Notice pending before the Honourable Court.
