Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri was raised in Gulak, Madagali Local Government Area, Adamawa State, where he was born on October 27, 1967.

Education

Between 1975 and 1981, he attended Central Primary School in Gulak.

From 1981 to 1986, he attended Government Day Secondary School in Gulak and Government Secondary School Michika, where he took the senior school certificate exam.

Ahmadu Fintiri graduated with a degree in history and a postgraduate diploma in policy and strategic studies from the University of Maiduguri.

Career

He operated a private business for many years before winning election in 2007 and being re-elected in 2011.

Before being chosen to be the Speaker of the House of Assembly, he served in a number of leadership capacities until 2015.

Additionally, Ahmadu Fintiri served as governor of Adamawa State twice.

Following Murtala Nyako’s impeachment as governor in July 2014, he was first appointed acting governor. After three months of service, he turned over control to Bala James Ngilari.

On the platform of the People’s Democratic party, Ahmadu Fintiri won the 2019 Adamawa State gubernatorial election.

In a supplementary election, he was seated as the winner after receiving the most votes, but the election was deemed inconclusive because the number of cancelled votes exceeded the margin between the winner and his opponent.
