Following his ministerial tenure, he served as Vice-President of Operations at the Islamic Development Bank and as an executive director at the World Bank from 2011 to 2014.

Since 2014, he has held the position of Vice President of Country Operations at the Islamic Development Bank in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

In 2023, he was appointed by UN Secretary-General António Guterres to join the lead group for the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement.
