Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya was born in Jekadefari, Gombe, Gombe State, on October 9, 1961.

Alhaji Yahaya Umaru, his father, was a well-known merchant.

Yahaya went to the Government Science Secondary School and Central Primary School in Gombe.

In 1983, he received his accounting degree from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria.

Career

Yahaya’s career in both the public and private sectors has been very successful.

From 1984 to 1985, he worked for the Bauchi State Investment and Property Development Company as a principal accountant.

From 1993 to 1999, he served as the managing director of A.Y.U Civil Engineering Company Ltd.

In 2003, Governor Muhammad Danjuma Goje named him Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development.

Yahaya belongs to a number of professional associations, such as the Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM), the Association of Nation Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), and the Chartered Institution of Taxation of Nigeria (ACITN).

Politics

Yahaya entered the political sphere in 2003. He represented the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State as their candidate for governor in the 2015 election.

He was elected as the All Progressives Congress’s candidate for governor of Gombe State on October 1, 2018, and he was designated as the party’s candidate for the 2019 governorship contests.

Yahaya was proclaimed the winner of the Gombe State gubernatorial election on March 9, 2019, and he will also run for office again in 2023.

Private life

Gov. Muhammad Inuwa is a Muslim, he has two wives, and seven kids, all of whom live in Gombe. In 2022, his first son got married.
