Birth

Born on April 24, 1964, to Mr. and Mrs. Bassey Eno of Ikot Ekpene Udo in Akwa-Ibom State’s Nsit Ubium LGA.

Education

He received his first school leaving certificate and received his early education at Lagos State’s Local Authority Primary School.

In addition, he completed his education at Victory High School in Ikeja, Lagos State, and St. Francis Secondary School in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, where he also earned his West African Senior School Certificate.

He graduated from the University of Uyo with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in public administration.

Career

He began working as soon as he completed his secondary education.

After working for Union Bank for a few years, he was offered a position at Bertola Machine Tools Nigeria Limited, where he eventually became the commercial director of the organization.

This opportunity allowed him to start his own business, Royalty Groups.

He held numerous honors for his public service and served as chairman of the Akwa-Ibom State Hotels and Tourism Board from 2004 to 2007.

Along with founding All Nations Christian Ministry International, he is a clergyman and the author of several books, including Break Forth, Exercising Your Dominion Mandate, Dream Again, Wealth Creation, God’s Way, and Mark of a Disciple.

He has also published magazines and Christian journals.

He chaired the creation of the Ibom Fadama Bank to assist the state’s small farmers and served as Executive Director of the Agricultural Investments Directorate of Akwa-Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP) under Governor Emmanuel Udom’s leadership.

Politics

He was appointed by Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa-Ibom State in 2021 as the commissioner for lands and water resources.

After serving in all of these roles and building a solid reputation for himself, he announced his plan to run for Akwa-Ibom State governor in 2023.

Under the banner of the People’s Democratic party (PDP), he won the polls and was sworn in as the state’s governor in May 2023.

Private life

As the eldest of six siblings, Umo Eno lost his father, a British-trained police officer, at a young age.

He took on a number of odd jobs after his father passed away in order to support his younger siblings and make ends meet.

He is happily married to Pastor Mrs. Patience Eno for about 36 years now and together their union is blessed with six children and grandchildren.
