Boko Haram insurgents attack school in Yobe, kill sleeping students
In a brutal act of terrorism, suspected Boko Haram insurgents launched an attack on Faudiya School, located in the Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The school, affiliated with the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), a prominent Shia sect, was turned into a scene of horrific violence.
The attack occurred in the early hours of Friday at 3:44 a.m. when the terrorists stormed the Hausari quarters of Geidam LGA.
Exploiting the cover of darkness, they targeted students who were asleep, leaving them defenseless against the sudden and deadly assault. According to sources who spoke with News360 Nigeria, the gunmen struck with precision, resulting in the tragic loss of many young lives.
“The incident occurred at around 3:44 am when the gunmen invaded Faudiya School a well-known Shiite school in Geidam,” a source said.
“They (gunmen) attacked the school when these youths were asleep and brought them outside and shot them dead.
“There is tension and concern in the town after this incident. People are terrified over this unfortunate incident,” he said.
Also, a vigilante told the newspaper that three members of Shia sect were killed while one sustained injury.
“We don’t know who they (gunmen) are but all we know is that they killed three students in the school. One person who tried to escape during the incident was injured and he has been hospitalised,” he said.
The spokesperson for Yobe State Police Command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident but did not give details.
