Boko Haram launch another attack in Chibok, set churches, houses ablaze

Suspected Boko Haram militants attacked Bazir village in Chibok Local Government Area, Borno State, in the early hours of Sunday, killing two brothers and destroying property.

Eyewitnesses reported that the attack occurred around 2:00 a.m. while villagers were asleep. The assailants burned down a church, residential houses, and looted food supplies and livestock before fleeing the area.

This incident follows a similar attack on Njilang village in Chibok on January 2, where the terrorists displaced the entire community, forcing residents to seek refuge elsewhere.

Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (APC, Borno South), representing the area, recently expressed concern over the resurgence of attacks in Chibok, Damboa, and other parts of his constituency, calling for urgent government intervention.

One of the residents of Bazir who fled unhurt, Mr. James Ayuba while commenting on the attack, said, ” It was by God’s Grace that we escaped unhurt, but our house was set ablaze completely after the terrorists looted our agricultural produce.

” I am calling on the government and security agencies to take urgent action to address the renewed attacks in Southern Borno. Our people, especially those in Chibok deserve to live in peace and safety, and it is the responsibility of the authorities to ensure that they are protected and secured”. He stated.

All efforts to get confirmation from the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Kenneth Daso proved abortive at press time.
