BREAKING: Afam Osigwe emerges new NBA national president

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has declared Mr. Osigwe, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), as its newly elected president.

Osigwe, who previously held the position of Secretary-General within the NBA, secured the highest number of votes in the closely monitored 2024 NBA election conducted online.

Additionally, Mrs. Bridget Edokwe was elected as the association’s Publicity Secretary.

The voting process commenced at 12 a.m. on Saturday and concluded at 1:59 p.m., with live results for all positions available in real-time at https://go.ecnba.org/results/.

By 2 a.m. on Sunday, Osigwe had garnered 20,395 votes, surpassing his closest contender, Tobenna Erojikwe, chairman of the NBA Institute of Continuing Legal Education Governing Council, who received 10,970 votes. Chukwuka Ikwuazom (SAN), the former chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch, secured 9,007 votes.

Osigwe will take over from the outgoing NBA president, Yakubu Maikyau (SAN).
