BREAKING: Akwa Ibom Gov, Umo Eno fires all commissioners
Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has dissolved his cabinet, citing the need for renewed energy to move his administration forward.
The announcement was made on Friday during a valedictory session held at the Executive Council chamber in Uyo, the state capital.
Governor Eno clarified that the decision was not due to underperformance but a strategic move to inject fresh ideas and professionals into his government.
He added that while the current cabinet members had fulfilled their responsibilities effectively, it was time to transition into a new phase with fresh talents and perspectives.
The governor assured the outgoing commissioners that they remained valued members of the Akwa Ibom political landscape and encouraged them to continue representing the state positively in their future endeavors.
“For me, if changes were based on non-performance, none of the commissioners would be replaced. All of you have delivered, and that is why the Arise Agenda has succeeded. However, we must conclude one season, begin another, and continue to move forward,” he said.
The governor announced that a valedictory dinner would be held on Friday evening at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo, in honour of the sacked cabinet members.
News360 Nigeria understands that most of the commissioners had served under the Udom Emmanuel administration for eight years.
