Prominent Human Rights activist Femi Falana, SAN, alongside Maxwell Opara and Deji Adeyanju, were among the legal team that accompanied the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, to the Force Headquarters for questioning regarding allegations of terrorism financing, among other charges.

The Labour movement had initially planned to mobilize its members to show solidarity by accompanying Ajaero to the Police headquarters.

However, Chief Falana, who serves as the NLC’s legal counsel, advised the workers to remain at the Labour House to avoid any potential disorder during the proceedings at the Police headquarters.

Falana assured the workers that the situation would be effectively managed by the lawyers from his chambers, who were part of the legal entourage.

As a precaution, a detachment of police officers was observed within the vicinity of the Labour House, where workers from various unions were gathered, awaiting the outcome of the questioning.

The case has drawn significant attention, highlighting the ongoing tension between the Labour movement and the authorities over the serious allegations against Ajaero.

As the legal proceedings continue, the involvement of high-profile lawyers like Falana underscores the gravity of the situation and the NLC’s resolve to defend its leadership.
