BREAKING: Gov Bago declares night curfew in Minna amid rising insecurity

Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago of Niger State has imposed a 6pm to 6am curfew on Minna, the state capital, following a series of violent attacks and killings in the city.
The governor also announced that commercial motorcycles and tricycles will no longer be allowed to operate during the curfew hours.
He made this known on Tuesday during a security meeting with traditional rulers and heads of security agencies at the Government House.
Bago stated that the new curfew is part of urgent steps to tackle the worsening security situation in Minna.
While explaining the directive, he said, “We cannot sit and watch while criminals continue to terrorise and kill innocent people.”
He added that only medical emergencies will be exempt from the restriction.
As part of the new security measures, the governor instructed district, village, and ward heads to start keeping proper records of visitors coming into their communities.
He also issued a stern warning that any house found to be sheltering criminals or drug peddlers would be demolished.
Residents of Minna have in recent times raised concerns over the rising cases of thuggery, violence, and killings, prompting this government action.
