BREAKING: Gunmen abduct UNN Dean in Enugu

Published

on

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly abducted Prof. Oguejiofo Ujam, a senior lecturer and Dean of the School of General Studies at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).

Prof. Ujam, who also teaches in the Department of Pure and Industrial Chemistry, was allegedly kidnapped on Sunday morning along the Ugwuogo-Nike-Opi-Nsukka Road.

Reports indicate that the kidnappers have yet to make any ransom demands regarding Ujam’s release.

This incident follows the recent abduction of Emeason Chima, an official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), along the same route. Chima, kidnapped on Saturday near Maduka University in Igbo-Etiti, Enugu State, was reportedly driving alone when he was taken. His captors have demanded a ransom of N50 million.

Unconfirmed reports also suggest that passengers in a commercial bus were abducted on the same road last Friday.

Efforts to reach the Enugu State Police Command for comment have been unsuccessful, as their spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, was unreachable at the time of reporting.

The repeated abductions along this route have heightened concerns over the safety of travelers, with calls for urgent security interventions to protect the lives of commuters and restore peace in the region.
