BREAKING: Gunmen ambush medical school students, abduct over 20 in Benue

In a shocking incident, over 20 medical and dental students, along with a House Officer, were kidnapped by gunmen in Benue State on their way to the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu.

The students, who were reportedly from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos, were traveling together when they were ambushed around 5:30 p.m. in the Otukpo area of Benue State.

SP Catherine Anene, the spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation has been launched to locate and rescue the abducted students. The authorities are working tirelessly to gather more information and bring those responsible to justice.

The kidnapping has sent shockwaves through the academic and medical communities, raising concerns about the safety of students and professionals traveling within the region. As the investigation unfolds, the public remains hopeful for the safe return of the abducted individuals.

“Yes, the report of kidnapping is true. The report was received around 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and an investigation is ongoing.”
