The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly intensified efforts to arrest former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.

According to Ohiare Michael, Director of the Yahaya Bello Media Office, EFCC operatives have surrounded the Kogi Government Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, in a bid to apprehend the former governor.

In a statement, Michael revealed, “It has come to our notice that individuals believed to be EFCC operatives are currently around the Kogi Government Lodge in an attempt to forcefully arrest former Governor Yahaya Bello. They were shooting sporadically.”

He further stated that despite Bello’s voluntary appearance at the EFCC office earlier in the day, where he was asked to leave and return later, the agency launched what Michael described as a “gestapo-like” raid on the Kogi State Government facility in Asokoro.

“We want to place it on record that the EFCC should be held accountable if anything happens to him,” Michael warned, labeling the incident as an unnecessary escalation and criticizing the EFCC’s approach as politically motivated rather than focused on fighting corruption.

He pledged to keep the public informed on further developments.
