The Commissioner of Police has been directed by the Kano State Government to extract Aminu Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano, from his current residence at the Nasarawa GRA Mini Palace.

The government has completed preparations for the major restoration and renovation of the property, including the urgent removal and rebuilding of the decaying wall barrier, according to a press conference held by the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Haruna Dederi.

This directive comes just hours after the Federal High Court’s ruling on the substantive suit, which upheld the Kano Emirate Council Repeal Law 2024 and nullified all actions taken by Governor Abba Yusuf following the law’s passage.

A portion of the government’s statement reads: “Following the court’s ruling, the Kano State Government has directed the Commissioner of Police to remove the deposed emir from the government property where he is trespassing.

” The government has already concluded arrangements for the general reconstruction and renovation of the property, including the demolition and reconstruction of the dilapidated wall fence with immediate effect.”
