BREAKING: IGP Egbetokun storms Benue, orders more tactical teams amid rising attacks

Following the recent wave of deadly attacks that have claimed several lives in Benue State, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has arrived in the state and immediately ordered the deployment of additional tactical units.
The Nigeria Police Force confirmed the development in a statement shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, stating: “IGP arrives Benue, orders for additional deployment of tactical teams.”
This follows President Bola Tinubu’s directive on Sunday, instructing security chiefs to act decisively and enforce earlier orders aimed at restoring peace to the state.
The intervention comes in the wake of a brutal assault on Guma Local Government Area, where suspected armed herdsmen reportedly killed about 200 people in a single night of violence.
