The Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly arrested renowned activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, following his return to Nigeria.

Fellow activist Deji Adeyanju confirmed Sowore’s arrest to News360 Nigeria on Sunday, sparking concerns over the detention of the vocal political figure.

Sowore, a strong advocate for human rights and democracy, has faced repeated clashes with the Nigerian authorities in recent years due to his activism.

Adeyanju said, “SOWORE was arrested by the jobless and lawless Nigerian government for calling for an End to Bad Governance protest,” he said.

Recall that Sowore had revealed that the Nigerian security forces were attempting to track him down in his hometown in Ondo State.

The former presidential candidate claimed that security agencies were plotting to frame him as guilty of bogus offences.

He had disclosed this via his verified Facebook page on Saturday.

Sowore said, “Yeah! All around in my home town, they’re tryin’ to track me down, yeah! They say they want to bring me in guilty.

“However Babylon must fall! #FearlessInOctober.”
