BREAKING: Tinubu appoints new DGs for NIA, DSS
President Bola Tinubu has appointed new Directors-General for the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Services (DSS).
Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed is named the new Director-General of the NIA, while Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi is appointed as the Director-General of the DSS.
Ambassador Mohammed, who joined the NIA in 1995, has had a distinguished career in the foreign service, serving in countries such as North Korea, Pakistan, and Sudan, and most recently as the head of the Nigerian mission to Libya.
Mr. Adeola Ajayi, the new DSS Director-General, has advanced through the ranks to Assistant Director-General and has served as State Director in various locations, including Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi.
The appointments follow the resignation of the previous chiefs of the NIA and DSS.
President Tinubu expects the new leaders to enhance the effectiveness of the intelligence agencies and tackle Nigeria’s security challenges through improved collaboration and alignment with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
The President also expressed gratitude to the outgoing Directors-General for their service and wished them well in their future endeavors.
