BREAKING: Tinubu orders release of minors detained over #EndBadGovernance protest
President Bola Tinubu has directed the immediate release of all minors detained and facing prosecution for their alleged involvement in the #EndBadGovernance protests held nationwide in August.
The announcement was made today, November 4, by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during a briefing in Abuja.
In addition to ordering their release, President Tinubu has instructed a thorough investigation into the actions of law enforcement officers involved in the arrest, detention, and prosecution of these minors.
Any officials found culpable will face appropriate disciplinary measures.
The directive follows widespread outrage after videos surfaced showing the minors appearing malnourished and fainting while being arraigned at a High Court in Abuja last Friday.
The President also tasked the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction with ensuring the welfare of the affected children.
