Canadian woman sentenced to 11 years for smuggling hard drugs into Nigeria

A Canadian woman, Adrienne Munju, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison by a Federal High Court in Lagos for smuggling 35.20 kilograms of Canadian Loud, a potent form of synthetic cannabis, into Nigeria.

The 41-year-old was caught by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on October 3, 2024, at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos during passenger inspections in the Arrival Hall.

The court found Munju guilty on two charges and sentenced her to 11 years, with an option to pay a fine of N50 million for each charge, totaling N100 million.
