Ayomide Adeleye, a 300-level Philosophy student at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), has been arrested in connection with the kidnapping and alleged murder of Christiannah Idowu, a student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).

The tragic incident has stirred widespread condemnation on social media, with Nigerians demanding swift justice for Christiannah. The 23-year-old suspect reportedly confessed to the crime, leading to his arrest by the Nigerian Army and subsequent handover to the Lagos State Police.

Christiannah was declared missing on August 19, 2024, after her abductors contacted her family using her WhatsApp account, demanding a ransom of N1.5 million.

Despite a partial payment of N350,000, the communication ceased, and subsequent investigations led to the discovery of suspicious transactions linked to Ayomide.

Evidence, including bank statements and phone messages, implicated him in the crime.

Ayomide reportedly confessed to killing Christiannah and burying her at his home. The case has sparked outrage, with calls for justice and scrutiny over Ayomide’s past, as similar incidents involving his ex-girlfriend and sister have surfaced.

Lagos State Police confirmed the ongoing investigation, as the public awaits further developments in the quest for justice for Christiannah.
