The Board of Governors of the National Judicial Institute (NJI) has confirmed the appointment of Justice Babatunde Adeniran Adejumo as the new Administrator of the institute.
His appointment, which was approved by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, is set to take effect from August 1, 2025.
According to a statement released by Mr. Tobi Soniyi, Senior Special Assistant (Media) to the CJN, Justice Adejumo will succeed Justice Salisu Garba Abdullahi, whose tenure as NJI Administrator will conclude on July 31, 2025, after four years of meritorious service.
The appointment, Soniyi noted, was made by the CJN following consultations with the NJI Board of Governors, in line with the provisions of the National Judicial Institute Act.
The CJN, Justice Kekere-Ekun, expressed deep appreciation to the outgoing Administrator for his unwavering dedication and invaluable contributions towards strengthening the Institute and advancing the Nigerian judiciary.
Justice Babatunde Adejumo, a respected jurist and seasoned administrator, previously served as the President of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria until his retirement in 2019.
He is widely acknowledged for his wealth of experience and firm grasp of judicial administration, qualities expected to support the institute in enhancing judicial capacity development and promoting innovation within the system.
The National Judicial Institute remains Nigeria’s highest institution for the continuing education, training, and professional development of judicial officers and their support staff across all levels of the judiciary.
The Institute routinely organizes courses, workshops, conferences, and academic programmes designed to improve the competence, ethics, and service delivery of the judiciary in line with international standards.
