A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has issued an interim injunction stopping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its suspended National Vice Chairman for the South-South, Dan Orbih, from conducting the party’s zonal congress.

The congress was initially scheduled to hold in Calabar, Cross River State, on Saturday, February 22, 2025.

Justice G.V. Obomanu granted the order after considering arguments presented by the claimants’ counsel, Emeka D.A. Ojoko.

The court directed the PDP, Orbih, and their representatives to suspend all preparations for the congress until the determination of the Motion on Notice for Interlocutory Injunction.

Furthermore, the ruling instructed all parties to maintain the status quo as of February 20, 2025, pending further court proceedings.

The court also permitted the claimants to serve legal documents on the PDP and Orbih through substituted means, such as placing notices at the South-South Zonal Headquarters in Port Harcourt and publishing them in a widely read national newspaper.

The case has been adjourned to February 28, 2025, for a hearing on the Motion on Notice.
