Court remands Seven Fulani Herders in Benue over different crimes

A Chief Magistrate Court in Makurdi, Benue State, presided over by Mr. Kalvin Mbanongu, has ordered the remand of seven armed Fulani herders from various locations in Nasarawa State. 

They are facing charges of criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, rape of a female student from the Federal College of Education, Odugbo, in Otukpo Local Government Area, and violations of the state’s anti-open grazing law.

According to Police Prosecutor, Inspector Godwin Ato, the suspects were apprehended on April 1st this year by officers attached to the APA Division.

They were reportedly arrested for engaging in open grazing and terrorizing communities in the area.

Inspector Ato told the Court that the armed herders adopted a Student and was demanding for Ransom 10 Million Naira,the police stormed their hide out and rescued the victim and arrested them with dangerous weapons while two escaped

No The case has been adjourned to Eleven of June this year for further mention.

Our Correspondent report that the armed herders have blocked Makurdi -Naka Adoka -Ankpa federal highway Taraku NAKA- Agagbe Road abducting People and motorist around otukpo Apa Agatu and Gwer West local government Areas of Benue state
