Crisis erupts in Ebonyi CAN over alleged mismanagement of ₦171m empowerment fund
A crisis has engulfed the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) business center in Ebonyi State following allegations that officials introduced strange names to claim a ₦171 million empowerment fund provided by the governor.
The funds, intended to benefit CAN members, have sparked outrage as a splinter group within the association has appealed to the governor for intervention.
According to the group, those entrusted with disbursing the funds allegedly imported names unknown to CAN to access the money.
In response, the governor has requested official documentation listing the rightful beneficiaries, but no such list has been provided by CAN thus far, raising concerns about transparency and accountability within the association.
The situation has left many questioning how such issues of alleged corruption have emerged within a religious organization, casting a shadow over CAN’s integrity.
