Crisis rocks Kano APC as Minister rejects Chairman Abdullahi Abbas

The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is facing internal turmoil as the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Atta, openly opposed the party’s state chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, who was backed by APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.
Speaking at the Fagge APC Caucus meeting in Kano ahead of the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting set for next Tuesday, Atta expressed concerns that the APC would struggle to reclaim Kano from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) under Abbas’ leadership.
Reports indicate that Ganduje is determined to keep Abbas in power for another term, despite Abbas already spending about ten years as the party’s state chairman.
Atta blamed the party’s 2023 governorship loss on what he described as a defiance of divine will. He also issued a strong warning, threatening to leave the APC if the leadership in Kano remains unchanged.
“We are making it clear to everyone, if they bring him back, we will leave. The party will surely fail again. We are not with such people, and no matter what happens, we will not align with them. They send us messages, and we respond accordingly.
“We were raised with good moral upbringing; we know who God is, we respect our scholars and elders, and we will not compromise our values. If they insist on bringing him back, we will leave, and I swear, the party will fall again.
“Votes do not give power, money cannot buy power, and even the people do not ultimately decide who rules. Gawuna and Garo won the election cleanly, but fraud was committed against us. We went to court, and it was proven that we were cheated. Yet in the end, the One who gives power withheld it from us because we challenged Him,” Atta stated.
The crisis in Kano APC continues to deepen as party members await the outcome of the NEC meeting.
