The Cross River State Police Command has arrested a man, Mathias Amunde, for allegedly killing his mother with a stick in Obudu Local Government Area.

In an interrogation video shared on Instagram by user @isaacfayoseoriginal, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime, revealing that he and an accomplice struck his mother with a stick, dragged her body outside, and threw it into a well.

He said in Pidgin (now translated), “I and Walcot killed her. We killed her with a stick. Walcot has gone to his house. After we killed him, Walcot dragged him out of the house and we jointly dragged him to the well.

“After we got to the well, I opened it and we jointly carried her body and threw it into the well.”

Confirming the incident in an exclusive interview with our correspondent on Monday, the state Police Public Relations Office, Irene Ugbo, noted that the case would be referred to the command’s headquarters for further investigation.

“Yes, he has been arrested. He will be transferred to the police headquarters for further investigation tomorrow (Tuesday),” Ugbo said.
