Delta North APC Chairman disbands LGA, ward chairmen forums amid party crisis

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta North Senatorial District has disbanded two major internal party forums in a move aimed at restoring order and party discipline.
Ogbueshi Adizue Eluaka, Chairman of the APC in the district, announced on Wednesday the immediate dissolution of the Forum of Local Government Area (LGA) Chairmen and the Forum of Ward Chairmen.
The decision comes amid increasing internal discord linked to political endorsements and unauthorized statements by the leadership of the dissolved forums.
According to a statement issued by Eluaka, the forums were dissolved following consultations with higher-ranking party officials.
He stressed that the APC would henceforth maintain direct engagement with individual LGA and ward chairmen instead of through collective structures that, he said, had begun to act outside the party’s official directives.
Eluaka pointed to recent developments — particularly unauthorized endorsements and comments following a senatorial meeting on June 14 at the country home of Senator Ned Nwoko in Idumuje-Ugboko — as the tipping point.
The meeting, reportedly called to shore up support for Senator Nwoko’s rumored bid for a second term as the party’s leader in Delta North, generated friction within the party ranks and drew criticism for sidelining formal party protocols.
“The forums became platforms for unnecessary positioning and unapproved declarations that conflict with the party’s unity and direction,” Eluaka stated.
The chairman emphasized that the dissolution was a strategic measure to contain factionalism and realign the party’s grassroots structure with its core values and objectives as preparations build ahead of the next election cycle.
While reactions among party members remain mixed, some insiders suggest that the move may be intended to reassert the party’s central leadership and counter perceived attempts by individuals or blocs to dominate local politics through unofficial endorsements.
“These groups, which are not recognized in the APC constitution, have acted in ways that risk party unity and discipline. Any further activities by such bodies or other unauthorized groups will not be tolerated,” Eluaka stated.
He further warned that individuals found disregarding the directive would face disciplinary action in line with the party’s constitution.
“We urge all party faithful to remain loyal and focused on our shared goals under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the M.O.R.E Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori,” he added.
Aniocha South APC Faults Rejection of Nwoko’s Endorsement
In a related development, members of the APC in Aniocha South Local Government Area have distanced themselves from a recent statement that rejected Senator Nwoko’s endorsement as the party’s leader in Delta North.
In a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of APC Aniocha South, Prince P.C. Izediunor, the group criticized the statement allegedly issued by their local chairman, Pastor Norbert Akachukwu Sochukwudinma, stating that it did not reflect the collective position of party executives or leaders in the area.
“That statement was released without consultation and does not represent the consensus of APC leaders and stakeholders in Aniocha South,” the statement read.
They emphasized that local party structures do not have the jurisdiction to determine leadership at the senatorial level, and urged members to uphold party unity and avoid divisive rhetoric.
“We remain committed to inclusiveness, due process, and collective decision-making. Let us stay focused on strengthening our party and delivering on the expectations of our people,” the group concluded.
