The Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly detained another youth from Sokoto State in connection with the planned #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests.

Human rights activist and #RevolutionNow convener, Omoyele Sowore, has called for the immediate release of the detained youth, identified as A. O. Yusuf. According to SaharaReporters, Sowore confirmed Yusuf’s arrest in a post on X on Thursday, stating that the detention was linked to the upcoming nationwide protests.

Sowore shared, “There is a news alert that another active citizen from Sokoto @DEGEO7 was abducted by @OfficialDSSNG! #FreeYusuf NOW.”

In recent developments, the DSS has been actively targeting individuals connected to the protests. Previously, they arrested Aliyu Sanusi in Sokoto for allegedly distributing #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest materials. Sanusi was later released.

Additionally, Bashir Abubakar was detained and subsequently released in Kano, where he was apprehended for his support of the planned protests against economic hardship.

Although Sanusi and Abubakar have been released, the DSS continues to clamp down on Nigerian youths advocating for the nationwide protest scheduled for August 1-10.
