The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested Sylvester Victor Augustus, a 32-year-old from Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, for cloning the agency’s website and posting a fraudulent recruitment notice.

DSS operatives tracked Augustus to his residence on Akpan Eno Lane in Abak, where he was apprehended on Thursday. Augustus, who claims to be a graduate of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO), identified himself as a blogger and content creator.

The cloned website falsely advertised a recruitment exercise, presumably to deceive and defraud unsuspecting Nigerians. In response, the DSS promptly debunked the notice, warning the public against falling prey to such fraudulent activities.

According to a DSS official, Augustus will soon be arraigned in court to face charges related to his alleged criminal actions.
