Edo Queens faced off against Egypt’s FC Masar in a tense Group B encounter at the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco, ending in a 0-0 draw that leaves their semifinal hopes uncertain.

Despite the stalemate, the Nigerian champions remain at the top of the table, tied with Masar at four points each, while South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns trail with three points following a commanding 4-0 victory over CBE.

Now, Coach Moses Aduku’s squad must secure at least a draw against Sundowns in their final group match on Saturday at Larbi Zaouli Stadium, Casablanca, to advance.

However, a loss could prove costly, as a Masar win over CBE would see the Egyptians clinch the first qualification ticket.

With their shock opening defeat to Masar behind them, defending champions Sundowns regained momentum in their latest match, setting up a high-stakes showdown with Edo Queens that will determine which team continues their tournament journey.

Edo Queens are the third Nigerian club to feature in the continental showpiece after Rivers Angels in 2021 and Bayelsa Queens in 2022, with the country’s highest finish being a third-place record by the latter.
