The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared prominent Nigerian businesswoman Aisha Achimugu wanted over allegations of criminal conspiracy and money laundering.

In a public notice issued on Friday, the anti-graft agency called on the public to assist in locating Achimugu, who hails from Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

“The public is hereby notified that AISHA SULAIMAN ACHIMUGU, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in an alleged case of Criminal Conspiracy and Money Laundering,” the notice stated.

The EFCC further revealed that Achimugu, 51, was last known to reside at 6C, Rudolf Close, Maitama, Abuja. The commission urged anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact its offices across the country, call 08093322644, email [email protected], or report to the nearest police station or security agency.

The EFCC’s move follows recent allegations that Achimugu received campaign funds from Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on behalf of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar during the 2023 presidential election.

However, Atiku, through his spokesperson Paul Ibe, dismissed the claim. In a statement titled “Halt This Tinubu’s Voyage of Misadventure and Campaign of Calumny Against Atiku Abubakar”, Ibe denied any financial transaction between Atiku and Governor Sanwo-Olu.

“The reports in a section of the media that the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, through Ms. Aisha Achimugu, made available to Atiku Abubakar, Vice President of Nigeria (1999–2007), money purportedly belonging to Lagos State is not true,” the statement read.

Ibe further stated that Atiku has never met or had any dealings with Governor Sanwo-Olu.

Aisha Achimugu is the Managing Director and CEO of Felak Concept Group, a company engaged in civil, structural, and transportation engineering. Over the years, the company has expanded into consultancy, transaction advisory services, maritime operations, and environmental waste management, serving both private and public clients.

She is known for leading major infrastructure projects and is recognized as the first female consultant and transaction advisor for the development of a Deep Sea Port in South-South Nigeria.

Born on January 22, 1974, Achimugu attended the Federal Government Girls Science School, Kuje, Abuja, before earning a B.Sc. in Accountancy from the University of Jos in 1998. She later received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from the Commonwealth University, Belize.

Achimugu was married to the late Sulaiman Achimugu, a former Managing Director of the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC), who passed away in 2020. She is a mother of three.

Her name made headlines last year when she celebrated her 50th birthday in Grenada, an event attended by high-profile figures, including Governor Sanwo-Olu.
