EFCC invites VeryDarkMan, Bobrisky over bribery allegations against official
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has summoned activist VeryDarkMan, also known as Martins Otse, and popular Instagram celebrity Bobrisky, born Idris Okuneye, to address bribery allegations made against officials of the anti-graft agency.
The invitation follows a viral video shared by VeryDarkMan, in which Bobrisky claimed to have paid ₦15 million to EFCC officials to dismiss money laundering charges against her.
Bobrisky, who had been sentenced to six months in prison in April for abusing the naira, was released on August 5.
In response, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede ordered an immediate investigation into the matter. The agency’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, revealed that a team of investigators has been formed to scrutinize the claims.
The EFCC has asked both Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan investigation to present themselves at the agency’s Lagos office to assist in the investigation.
“In a swift reaction, the EFCC’s boss has constituted a team of Investigators to critically look into the allegations. To this end, the Commission hereby invites both Okuneye and Otse to make themselves available at its Lagos Directorate to assist investigators unearth the alleged bribery,” the statement reads in part.
“The EFCC wishes to assure the public that the allegations would be thoroughly investigated and the result of the findings made public accordingly.”
There is no love lost between Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan. The controversial figures have constantly engaged in a heated war of words on social media.
