Eguavoen announce Super Eagles squad for AFCON qualifiers against Libya
Head Coach Augustine Eguavoen has named a 24-man Super Eagles squad for Nigeria’s upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Libya’s Mediterranean Knights.
Captain William Ekong, rising star Ademola Lookman, and in-form winger Moses Simon lead the squad, which also includes top performers like Taiwo Awoniyi, Samuel Chukwueze, and goalkeepers Stanley Nwabali and Maduka Okoye.
Notably absent is reigning African Player of the Year Victor Osimhen due to injury, while defender Bright Osayi-Samuel and playmaker Chidera Ejuke return to the squad after missing previous fixtures.
Veteran forward Kelechi Iheanacho and midfielders like Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, and Frank Onyeka are also part of the lineup.
The Super Eagles will face Libya at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, on Friday, 11th October, before traveling to Benghazi for the second leg at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium on Tuesday, 15th October.
All the players are expected to report in Uyo on Monday, 7th October.
