El-Rufai’s wife schools Shehu Sani on grammar in social media exchange

Former First Lady of Kaduna State, Hadiza El-Rufai, recently engaged in a social media exchange with former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, where she corrected him on grammar.

The interaction occurred on X (formerly known as Twitter) after Sani posted a comment about President Bola Tinubu’s foreign trip and its perceived effects on taxes and commodity prices.

Sani’s post, which focused on the economic implications of the President’s trip, sparked the response from El-Rufai, who pointed out grammatical errors in his statement. The exchange between the two public figures has since drawn attention, as users debated both the content of Sani’s message and the grammar correction by El-Rufai.

The lighthearted banter underscores the ongoing public discourse surrounding the country’s economic situation and the role of political figures in shaping the narrative.

“New law of economics; When the President travels out, taxes and prices goes up,” he wrote.

Reacting to the post, Mrs El-Rufai, who is known for correcting bad English on X, spotted the post and corrected the former lawmaker.

She said Sani’s post should have read ‘’go up” and not ‘’goes up.”

This is not the first time El-Rufai has corrected someone’s grammar on social media, and it is also not the first time she and Sani have clashed.

The two have a history of disagreements, dating back to when Sani was a senator representing Kaduna Central.

In fact, Sani had reportedly asked then Governor Nasir El-Rufai to caution his wife from commenting on his hair, which he felt constituted hate speech .
