The 16th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, has finalized arrangements to turban his first son as the Ciroman Kano, a title traditionally reserved for the crown prince or heir apparent in the Kano Emirate.

The turbaning ceremony is set to take place on Friday, November 25, 2024.

The Ciroman Kano title holds deep cultural and political significance, symbolizing direct royal lineage and the responsibility to oversee specific districts within the emirate. Sanusi’s father, Ambassador Aminu Sanusi, held the title until his passing in the 1990s.

Sanusi’s son, currently serving as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), will be honored alongside nine other individuals. The ceremony will see key appointments, including Dr. Abubakar Sanusi Usman Shehu II as Dan Galadiman Kano and Alhaji Abubakar Aminu Sanusi as Dan Madami.

This event will further reinforce the cultural heritage and leadership structure within the Kano Emirate, as Sanusi’s son steps into this prestigious role.
