EPL: FA revokes Bruno Fernandes red card against Spurs

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has successfully avoided a three-match suspension after his red card during their 3-0 defeat to Tottenham was overturned.

The Portugal midfielder was sent off by referee Chris Kavanagh for a high tackle on James Maddison at Old Trafford.

However, it was clear that Fernandes slipped before the tackle, and Maddison himself agreed that it didn’t warrant a red card.

United’s appeal led to the English FA upholding their claim of wrongful dismissal. In a statement on Tuesday, the FA confirmed that Fernandes is cleared to play in the next three Premier League matches against Aston Villa, Brentford, and West Ham.

His availability is a crucial boost for under-pressure manager Erik ten Hag, who is fighting to stabilize United’s season.

The Red Devils are 13th in the Premier League table having won just two of their opening six matches.
