EPL: Ipswich stuns Tottenham with 2-1 victory

Ipswich Town broke their Premier League drought with a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Tottenham Hotspur, marking their first win in the top flight since 2002.

The Tractor Boys, who returned to the Premier League this season after a long absence, had faced challenges holding onto leads in previous games.

This time, however, they clinched all three points, lifting themselves out of the relegation zone and overtaking Crystal Palace.

Sammie Szmodics kicked off the scoring with a skillful overhead shot past Spurs’ keeper Guglielmo Vicario, giving Ipswich a crucial lead.

Donning a unique pink third kit, created in collaboration with global music icon and fan Ed Sheeran, Ipswich extended their advantage when Liam Delap scored just minutes later.

The home crowd voiced their frustration at halftime, and Spurs came close to responding when Dominic Solanke found the net shortly after the break, only for the goal to be disallowed due to handball.

The momentum seemed to slip away from Tottenham until Rodrigo Bentancur narrowed the deficit by heading in a Pedro Porro corner with 21 minutes left.

However, Ipswich goalkeeper Arijanet Muric made a critical save on Solanke’s late attempt, securing Ipswich’s first away league win since their 2002 victory over Everton.

This historic victory is sure to inspire the club and fans as they continue their journey in the Premier League.
