Europa League: Diallo’s double secures Man Utd 2-0 win over PAOK
Amad Diallo’s second-half brilliance propelled Manchester United to a crucial 2-0 victory over Greek champions PAOK, reigniting their Europa League ambitions and setting the stage for incoming manager Ruben Amorim to push for a top-eight finish.
Diallo, United’s standout offensive force, broke the deadlock with a precise looping header just minutes into the second half.
He later secured the win with a stunning curl from the edge of the box in the 77th minute.
Despite PAOK’s best chance falling short when Tarik Tissoudali failed to beat Andre Onana from close range, Onana further impressed with an acrobatic save against Mady Camara in an otherwise slow first half.
This victory marks only United’s second win in their last 12 European games and their first in this season’s Europa League, following a streak of three draws.
The upcoming clash with Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt will be Amorim’s debut on home turf.
While United’s performance lacked the cohesion of Amorim’s Sporting side, who recently stunned Manchester City in the Champions League, the new boss can take heart in the team’s potential for growth, seeing ample room for improvement as he prepares to take charge.
